2026年1月13日，冬日的长沙暖意融融，英国驻广州总领事孟诗然女士一行三人，专程前往长沙市蝴蝶之家儿童舒缓护理中心探访。蝴蝶之家现任理事长符晓莉、长沙市儿童福利院党委副书记吴小亚等人全程接待，陪伴总领事走进这个为重症孤残儿童搭建的“温暖港湾”，见证跨国民间慈善的动人瞬间。
作为中国首家儿童舒缓护理机构，蝴蝶之家由英国退休护士Lyn Gould（金林）于2010年创办，15年来始终秉持英国先进舒缓护理理念，用专业与爱心为重症孤残儿童撑起一片天。踏入机构，孟诗然总领事便被孩子们的笑容所感染，她放缓脚步、放柔声音，主动走上前与孩子们亲切互动，轻轻抚摸孩子的小手，耐心倾听护理人员讲述每个孩子的故事，还亲手为孩子们送上精心准备的小礼物，现场满是温情。
在符晓莉理事长的陪同下，孟诗然总领事一行先后参观了儿童起居室、康复活动室、护理站等区域，细致了解孩子们的日常照料、康复训练及舒缓护理流程。看到护理人员熟练地为孩子整理衣物、喂食、做轻柔的肢体按摩，用温柔的话语安抚情绪，总领事频频点头赞许，不时停下脚步与护理团队交流，详细询问舒缓护理的专业技巧与机构运营情况，对团队15年如一日的坚守与付出表达了深深的敬佩。
当得知金林女士怀揣对中国的热爱，跨越国界带来先进护理理念，为重症孤残儿童提供有尊严的照护时，孟诗然总领事深受触动。她表示，蝴蝶之家不仅是孩子们的避风港，更搭建起中英民间慈善交流的坚实桥梁，这份跨越山海的善意与坚守，彰显了两国民间友好的深厚底蕴。她也期待未来能有更多跨国民间力量携手，为困境儿童送去更多温暖。

British Consul General in Guangzhou Visits Butterfly Children’s Hospices in Changsha
On January 13, 2026, a warm winter day in Changsha, Ms. Meng Shiran, British Consul General in Guangzhou, led a three-member delegation on a special visit to Butterfly Children’s Hospices in Changsha. The visit was warmly received by Ms. Fu Xiaoli, Chairperson of Butterfly Children’s Hospices, along with Ms. Wu Xiaoya, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Changsha Children’s Welfare Institute, who accompanied the Consul General throughout the visit. Together, they stepped into this “harbor of warmth” created for children with severe illnesses and disabilities, witnessing a moving moment of cross-border people-to-people philanthropy.
As the first pediatric palliative care institution in China, Butterfly Children’s Hospices was founded in 2010 by British retired pediatric nurse Ms. Lyn Gould. For the past 15 years, the organization has remained committed to advanced British palliative care principles, using professionalism and compassion to support children with life-limiting conditions. Upon entering the center, Consul General Meng was immediately touched by the children’s smiles. She slowed her pace and softened her voice, approaching the children with warmth and care—gently holding their hands, listening attentively as caregivers shared each child’s story, and personally presenting thoughtfully prepared gifts. The atmosphere was filled with tenderness and humanity.
Accompanied by Chairperson Fu Xiaoli, the Consul General and her delegation toured the children’s living areas, rehabilitation activity rooms, and nursing stations, gaining a detailed understanding of daily care routines, rehabilitation training, and palliative care processes. Watching caregivers skillfully help children adjust their clothing, assist with feeding, provide gentle physical massage, and soothe emotions with kind words, the Consul General repeatedly expressed her appreciation. She paused frequently to engage in conversation with the care team, asking in-depth questions about professional palliative care practices and organizational operations, and conveyed her deep respect for the team’s unwavering dedication over the past 15 years.
Upon learning that Ms. Lyn Gould brought advanced care concepts across borders out of her love for China, providing dignified care for children with severe illnesses and disabilities, Consul General Meng said she was deeply moved. She remarked that Butterfly Children’s Hospices is not only a safe haven for children, but also a strong bridge for people-to-people charitable exchange between China and the United Kingdom. This goodwill and perseverance that transcend distance, she noted, reflect the profound foundation of friendship between the two nations. She also expressed her hope that more cross-border civil society forces would join hands in the future to bring greater warmth and support to children in need.
Chairperson Fu Xiaoli expressed her sincere gratitude for the Consul General’s visit, noting that the growth of Butterfly Children’s Hospices has been made possible by the support of all sectors of society. This visit, she said, is not only an affirmation of the organization’s work, but also injects new momentum into China–UK people-to-people charitable cooperation.
